Extended funding for K.G. Jebsen Centre for Cardiac Research

April 28, 2021

The extended funding is an acknowledgement of the Centre’s success, and will allow excellent research for another period.

The K.G. Jebsen Center for Cardiac Research is headed by Professor Ivar Sjaastad, and consists of six research groups divided between UiO and OUS. The center started in 2017 with a four-year grant from the Jebsen Foundation. April 27 2021, the Jebsen Foundation, the University of Oslo and Sjaastad on behalf of the center signed a two-year extension of the center from the summer of 2021. The Jebsen Foundation chose to extend the support to the center after an external evaluation by international experts gave it top grades.

– Translational research takes time and we are therefore very pleased that the Jebsen Foundation gives us this extension. The support from the foundation gives us the opportunity to invest more in new treatment strategies for diastolic dysfunction. The center has several projects aimed at understanding more about this disease group. Now we can take promising projects from basic research into the clinic for the benefit of the patients, says Sjaastad.
